Thanks to the results obtained, it was found that the previous expectations of scientists regarding the rate of increase in the water level of the World Ocean were false. The thing is that earlier researchers relied on old data, which in recent years have become simply irrelevant. The rate of melting of glaciers significantly accelerated, which led to an increase in the water level in the seas and oceans, and this, in turn, affected the water level of the World Ocean.
Thus, the melting of glaciers has led to the fact that over the last quarter century the water level in the World Ocean has grown by 7.5 cm. As a result, we are facing global climate changes and cataclysms. For example, more often in the news you can hear about the hurricanes and typhoons that lead to the flooding of sea coasts.
To avoid the horrendous consequences that humanity may face as a result of global warming, the melting of glaciers and the increase in the water level of the World Ocean, an international agreement on the reduction of carbon dioxide was signed in Paris two years ago. If it is possible to significantly reduce the production of CO2, we will have a chance to keep the average temperatures of the Earth and slow its heating up.
According to the majority scientists, it is only way to cope with this situation.
And since the Paris agreement will come into effect already in 2020, we have a chance to avoid serious consequences!
