Territory of the Beremitskoe Nature Park

Beremitskoe Nature Park is a huge wildlife area, which is located from the town of Oster, Chernigov region, only 6.5 km away. This area includes flora and fauna on the border of the Dnieper-Donets depression and the Ukrainian crystalline shield. Incredible views, recreation with tents (camping), the opportunity to rent cabins – these are not all the advantages offered by modern ecotourism..

“Beremitskoe” is a nature park where the relocation and repopulation of the territory by herbivorous animals is carried out. Moreover, the whole process was successfully divided into several actual stages to achieve the set goals. The result was the stimulation of stable macroecosystems resembling forest-steppe ecosystems of earlier times.

On the territory of about 500 hectares there are many biotopes, among which it is worth mentioning:

Through Beremitskoe Nature Park migration routes of all kinds of birds are laid out, and therefore tourists can get acquainted with certain species of birds at different times of the year. Ornithofauna of the protected area is quite diverse. After all, in addition to migratory birds, there are various stable populations.

Beremitskoe Park and support for rewilding ideas

Our Park supports the ideas of the Rewilding Europe Foundation regarding the need to restore native ecosystems in Europe. The Rewilding ideology uses natural grazing as the main tool for increasing biodiversity and recreating trophic chains. Rewilding is considered to be a modern conservation ideology that aims to restore ecosystems. The main tool of this ideology is considered to be free grazing of animals, refusal of cages. Only in this way it will be possible to achieve wide biodiversity, creating the most favorable conditions for each species.

The Beremitskoe Park team has successfully adhered to the main ideas of rewilding for several important reasons:

Self-regulation. If ecosystems become biodiverse, they are automatically considered self-regulating, and thus do not need constant human intervention.

Protection of certain animal species from extinction. “Beremitskoe” is a park, which is home to animals listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, as they are on the verge of extinction.

It is difficult to overestimate the advantages of the ideas of rewilding. In addition to the above-mentioned reasons, they also note the fight against climate change, reduction of the probability of various natural disasters, etc.
